Youth LeadersYOUTH LEADERS – Normandin and Roosevelt Middle School students traveled to Boston on Friday for the 25th Annual Youth Congress “Leaders in Action” Conference, hosted by the Anti-Defamation League. Student delegates explored “what it means to cultivate the courage, commitment, and community to stand up and speak out against hate and injustice." This event comes at the end of the first year of NBPS middle schools’ participation in the ADL’s ‘A World of Difference Institute,’ in which 25 students from each school receive a 4-day training program on leading conversations and activities with peers with the goal of increasing safety, inclusiveness and understanding in schools and in our community. The Boston event featured an inspirational keynote address by Holocaust Survivor George Elbaum, followed by youth-led breakout sessions in which participants identified action steps to make their schools and communities safer and more inclusive. Our students were exemplary ambassadors of their city! (photos: Elissa May, NBPS Wrap Services) #ADLYouthCongress#ADLNewEngland
